About Me
Growing up in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s gave me a unique sampling of the most wonderful music ever made. At that time, most radio DJ’s were free to play the music they wanted and liked.
Listening to the glorious blends of rock & roll, funk, soul and R&B created a wonderful love and ear for music and the desire to create my own.
So, at 11 years old, in between sports, and school, I saved my lawn mowing money and bought a Sears guitar. The first guitar book I bought taught you how to play “Puff the Magic Dragon”. I played and played until literally my fingers bled. As the strings on the cheap guitar were about a half-inch from the fretboard, it was a painful beginning! But I stuck with it and can still remember the glee of actually sounding like the melody.
Fast forward to my early 30’s becoming a family man with a wonderful wife and beautiful children I found a great guitar teacher that would change the trajectory of my musical journey.
You see, by that time I was frustrated with a plateau in my musical prowess and ability to play the songs I wanted to play. I wanted to know what these pros were doing, and more than that, I wanted to know music. I mean to really KNOW music.
So I answered a newspaper ad for a guitar teacher in my community. I told him I wanted to learn music from the roots to the flower. He told me that he wouldn’t do it, that I wouldn’t do what would be necessary to learn what I was asking of him. I literally had to talk him into teaching me as I was determined! So it was that he told me to purchase a specific Classical guitar and that he would proceed with me.
I ended up studying with him for over 10 years. I learned how to read and write music, and learned the spirit and soul of music from the inside out. One sample lesson was that the same diatonic musical system that MC Hammer and Van Halen used in their music was the same that Mozart and Beethoven used. It was one of the most wonderful eras of my life and he remains a special memory to me even today.
So now I come before you as an accomplished musician eager to entertain. I enjoy playing for people who are hurting. Places like retirement homes, Ronald McDonald houses, rehab centers, and hospitals where allowed. Along with restaurants, coffee shops, and private parties.
I play a creative blend of instrumentals, cover songs, and my own original music.
It is my blessing to try to be a light in what can be a dark world. To spread a little joy and see some smiles. The applause is a great reward.
